We are looking for a Lighting & Controls Specialist to join our Rexel C&I team in Austin, TX!

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and review Lighting & Controls upgrade proposals and quotations to maximize profit opportunities and success rates of closing orders while minimizing disruptions.

  • Work closely with our outside sales staff and managers to develop new customer sales opportunities.

  • Effectively integrate available utility incentive programs, including federal tax incentives within proposed lighting quoted projects.

  • Manage and follow-up on all formal quotations.

  • Upon receipt of a project for submittal coordinates with manager to determine who will project manage the project and ensures a clean and detailed transition of all data to the assigned project manager

  • Answers miscellaneous incoming support and quotations calls from internal and external customers.

  • Participate in product meetings, seminars and training schools to enhance and maintain personal and product knowledge.

  • Participate in improving operations by offering potential solutions to existing methods.

  • Intermediate/advanced computer skills, specifically with Excel/Outlook/Word.

  • Proactively driving sales of lighting products through the national Rexel Lighting Magazine.

  • Upstream/Midstream utility program implementation and training

  • Promoting and Selling products in any active midstream/ upstream programs through the use of vertical marketing tools and the national Rexel Lighting Magazine


  • Superior knowledge level of lighting products and lighting applications

  • Strong social skills and interactions with all types of customer segments

  • Detail oriented

  • Ability to proactively service, manage and grow assigned LMC customer accounts

  • Ability to operate in a fast paced environment

  • Ability to research new customer targets and execute on those customer targets

  • Ability to effectively communicate with RVP’s, area managers, branch managers, outside and inside sales staff along with co-workers.

  • Ability to effectively articulate the Rexel lighting and controls value proposition to external customers and internal customers to satisfy job requirements

  • Ability to prioritize and organize job tasks

  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations required to accurately complete assigned tasks

  • Ability & willingness to pitch in and help others if required


  • High school diploma with minimum 2 years related experience, specifically with lighting and controls products

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills

  • Excellent negotiation skills, interpersonal skills and ability to drive purchasing decisions with influence.

  • Strong lighting and controls product and application knowledge essential.

  • Qualified applicants must be customer oriented and motivated with excellent communication, organization and problem-solving skills
